Bienvenue à nos visiteurs français!

The Valley Twinning association welcomed a group of nine French visitors from Longueville,
a village close to Granville at the bottom of the Cherbourg peninsula.

We were very happy to see our old friends and delighted to meet a new lady, Veronique, who has recently joined the group. The Piddlehinton church bells rang in their honour and they were very keen to see the
bells being rung as our traditional church bell ringing is mainly practised in our country.

The group was entertained over the weekend with a visit to Ham Hill Country Park, a
barbeque at Plush with a drink in the Brace of Pheasants, a tour of Thomas Hardy’s home
Max Gate and a stroll down from the Nothe Gardens and along the Stone Quay at
Weymouth.

The trip was rounded off with a delicious three course meal cooked and served
in Piddletrenthide village hall by the wonderfully talented Andy Milner who received high
praise from all.

We said our farewells Sunday morning with promises to keep in touch and see each other
again next year in France.

Our friendship with Longueville has lasted over thirty years and we are always pleased to welcome new members to our group. There is no need to speak fluent French, ( Google translate can be very helpful), we just enjoy each other’s company and learning about our different lives and our many shared values.
