At the invitation of owners Pam & Will Best we were invited on a trip round their organic Manor Farm, Godmanstone on the back of a tractor-towed trailer! Will explained to us how the farm is run on
‘regenerative methods’ whereby the land is protected for future generations by restoring biodiversity and involves minimal soil disturbance avoiding heavy ploughing and the use of chemicals and so
protecting the soil.

He also arranged for the trailer to take us almost to the door of the adjacent little Church explaining its fascinating history and unusual artefacts. At the end of the morning we congregated at the Giant Inn in Cerne for a delicious lunch.

Next meetings

Our next meeting on October 1st we’ll be back at the Memorial Hall for a talk about The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (which will link with a Piddle Valley Gardens Club slide show ‘Gardening the
Globe’ on Monday November 30th) followed by a Shared Tea to which everyone brings a contribution.

November 5th will be our AGM followed by a riotous Beetle Drive!

December 3rd we meet for our Annual Xmas Lunch at a nearby pub.
