Update from Lisa – June 6
“Wow where do I start?!
I would like to say how absolutely amazed I am by everyone’s support, donations, and kindness. It has been truly incredible, and even now I still find it overwhelming.
Everyone who knows us will know that going public with this was an extremely difficult thing for us to do.
I have been through a long journey and something I could never have imagined. It is not something I would wish on anyone. I spent two months away from home while undergoing proton beam radiotherapy, which is a harsh treatment, especially to the face. I got through to the end of treatment, and I am so pleased to say that I have now finished proton therapy and have finally returned home to recover.
I simply could not have had this treatment without all of your donations, so thank you so, so much.
We are still raising money to help finish paying for the treatment, and we would like to give some special shout-outs to the amazing people who have been fundraising recently and those who have events coming up soon.
Firstly, to my friends at my son’s school who organised a cake sale and raised £350! Also, thank you to everyone from the school who made individual donations through my GoFundMe page. I may not know who you all are, but I am incredibly grateful for your support.
To the amazing young girl who completed a sponsored 10,000-metre swim for me – what an incredible achievement! Thank you so much.
To Ellie, a kind lady who wanted to support me and my family despite never having met us, thank you for organising a 5k fundraising walk this week. Your kindness means so much.
To a group of Dean’s colleagues who are taking part in a skydive this August to raise money towards my treatment costs – thank you! Even my 16-year-old son is taking part which is amazing of him! If you are able to support them, please do. They have their own GoFundMe page, and all funds raised will go towards helping us.
To our lovely friend Helen, who is taking on the Three Peaks Challenge this year, thank you so much. She also has her own GoFundMe page, so please support her if you can.
I am completely blown away by how many amazing people have wanted to help. I can never say thank you enough.
If you know anyone who may still wish to donate, or if you are able to share my page with others, we would be so grateful. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us move closer to our goal and eases the financial burden of this treatment.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and support.
Lisa”

About Lisa
Lisa was born in Piddletrenthide and her mum, dad and brother still live there. Her father and some of his brothers were also born here and he still lives at his mothers house in Piddletrenthide.
Under the NHS, Lisa has had an operation on her nose and under her eye. Continuing with this treatment may result in sight loss and brain damage.
The Proton Beam therapy is done privately, and costs a lot of money – but is a lot safer.
